About 'Captain Kinsale', by Alexis

Our Captain Kinsale is an ancient mariner and an archetype, a knowing and helpful spirit of Kinsale! Captain Kinsale is also inspired by a real life local shipbuilder, who has helped Chloe and I learn about sailing and boats!

In 2021 Chloe and I bought a 50 year old, 27ft fiberglass boat, a live-board type motor sailor made in Cornwall and built as strong as wood. She was on a mooring for years in Drakes Pool, Cork Harbour, and she needed plenty of fixing, but we have had many adventures bringing her back to glory. On our journey we have met some amazing characters who have helped us learn how to sail and repair her. Captain Kinsale embodies that knowing and generous spirit of many sailors in West Cork.

Our museum quality prints are:

 -Hand signed and titled by the artist Alexis Bannerman.

- Framed with solid wood, sizes medium and above are made with uv proof, shatterproof glass, safe for the family home. The frames are Irish made.

-The prints are printed and mounted by Chloe in our Kinsale studio.

-We print with Giclée ink (that lasts up to 200 years, 70 years in direct sunlight), using only museum grade, archive paper.
